One British retiree couple bought a quaint local cottage in a village close by the city of Lovech and are more than happy with their choice. The view across the peaceful countryside is a constant reminder that they made the right decision, especially as they’d lived under the Heathrow flight path and adjacent to the M25 motorway. They’d purchased their cottage from a Roma family, and Brexit issues haven’t changed their minds about their present lifestyle as they’ve integrated successful into local village life.

In Bulgaria there’s no such thing as a hostile environment for incomers, as community spirit is far more important here than is its fading equivalent in the UK. The couple are bracing themselves for possible changes, even although the government have promised to uphold the status of UK expats.
