Brit expats on Spain’s Costa del Sol are scared sick over huge numbers of UK visitors bringing the virus with them.

Britain’s poor handling of the coronavirus pandemic has made headlines across the world, with the formerly well-respected country now being seen as little better than the USA in its bumbling efforts to stop the spread of covid-19. Spain’s reputation as regards safety from infection has been slightly better, but British expats living and working in the favourite destination are now scared sick of infection from plane-loads of Brits now arriving for their hols.

The message now being sent to the Spanish government from its expat communities along the Costa del Sol is simple – don’t let them in, especially as there’s now no compulsory quarantine requirement. New arrivals will simply be tested in order to check the virus isn’t present, and must fill in a questionnaire, get a temperature test and pass a visual inspection. Any who fail any part of the above will be sent to see a doctor.

One infuriated British long-term expat has another way of dealing with the issue, telling a local reporter Boris Johnson should be shot in the head, adding the Spanish government had got it right as regards defeating the virus. The expat added the economy is important, but not more so than people’s lives. For the other side of the story, one wealthy British owner of a leasing and real estate business stated he wants planeloads of British tourists arriving ‘big time’. Right.
