ExpatBriefing: Malta Work Permit Processing Times Slashed
By Hans Esser, for ExpatBriefing.com 14 November, 2017
Malta's immigration authority, Identity Malta, has slashed processing times for issuing single work permits.
Applicants can now expect to receive a permit in just under four weeks. The previous wait time was between four and five months.
Malta's Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms, Citizenship, and Simplification, Julia Farrugia Portelli, said the speedier processing is in response to a surge in foreign workers putting significant pressure on Identity Malta.
Identity Malta has pledged to further reduce processing times to two weeks, as it steps up efforts to help the island address labor shortages facing all sectors, including in hospitality and construction.
