A newcomer to Britain’s political scene inspired by the rise to power of France’s President Macron launched its campaign last Monday.

The anti-Brexit Renew party was formed last year, following Macron’s surprise election to France’s top political job, and is determined to stop Brexit at any cost. It’s the latest indication that the movement to reverse Brexit is growing in numbers and commitment to saving the UK from the worst crisis since WWII. A spokesperson for the new party stated its first priority is to stoke debate on the realities of Brexit, accusing the UK’s major political parties of totally losing touch with voters who’re feeling abandoned by the elite and mega-wealthy.

The party’s head of strategy James Torrance told the media the party is going to be ‘tough on Brexit and tough on the causes of Brexit’, adding MPs on both sides of the House will be pressured to put national interest before their jobs and consider placing Remain back on the table for a vote on the final deal, if there is one.

Since the June 2016 referendum, Remain supporters have spent time exploring diverse political and legal strategies for preventing what they perceive as the biggest political error since the end of WWII. Theresa May and her divided government have just eight months to get a divorce deal, but are still insisting March 29 2019 is the end date for the UK’s EU membership.

Brexit opponents are desperate to get enough House of Commons support to block any withdrawal deal agreed by May during this October’s meeting in Brussels. Brexit supporters are saying any attempt to thwart Brexit will cause a constitutional crisis, but Remainers might well believe it would spur the biggest street party since Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.
