Dependent on the specific business sector,
Dubairanks highly as best for start-ups, but so do many other world countries.
Deciding which location is best for your entrepreneurial start-up can be tricky, as this new world in all its expat glory isn’t just the ‘one size fits all’ destination as described online. Certain countries and cities may be the chance of a lifetime for one speciality but dead in the water for another, however innovative the idea.
For example, ever-popular Dubai works well for entrepreneurs in the import/export sector with a ranking of 22nd in the world, but expat chefs should head to Lisbon to open their new dream restaurant. Techies still flock to San Francisco, New York and London due to the three world cities’ access to venture capital and excellent tech ecosystem, but are also entrenched in a majority of other world capitals.
Nowadays, tech sector entrepreneurs are welcome in just about every first-world country including China, although backers tend to be far more generous and easily accessed in major Western countries. The rise of the entrepreneurial sector to become a worldwide sensation can only get stronger as AI and other, newer fields change the world from the inside as fast as the global warming acceleration is affecting the outside.
For expats in a wide selection of sectors looking to benefit from this fast-changing scenario, Dubai is as good a place as any to try out new ideas, especially if mega-city life in the West doesn’t appeal. Growing a business is usually easier in a fast-developing environment, and Dubai is pulling out all the stops right now in the run-up to its Expo 2020.
